Three layer stencil called 'Loves Me, Loves Me Not'
  • Size:
  • Materials: Spray paint on canvas

This three-layered stencil painting was inspired by an iconic photography by Bernie Boston from 1967 called ‘Flower Power’. The image was enlarged on a computer and then printed out, the print being used used to create a three-layered stencil. Each stencil was cut by hand and then spray painted over. The words ‘HE LOVES ME, HE LOVES ME NOT’ were added in a crass type-face and these were taken from the old children’s game with daises. In this game, petals are picked off flowers, usually daisies, and the words ‘He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not’ are spoken aloud.
